Ironman Arizona is 5 months away. Somehow that seems like a short amount of time and a lifetime away all at once. We've been training for about 6 months now and I'm still learning and adjusting to the process. Last week was a great week for me. It was my biggest week of training to date (13 hours of training) and I got every single one of my workouts in. It was a big accomplishment for me and I'm hoping I can continue that trend.
We've had a couple races now. In March we did the Shamrock'n Half Marathon. Dad did great considering he was just a few weeks after his accident. I had a PR for myself but not by as much as I had hoped for.
A couple weeks ago we did the Tri 4 Real (Olympic distance) race out at Rancho Seco. I think the swim course was a little too long so my swim time wasn't what I wanted, but I had a great bike portion. I made it a lot farther than I usually do before my dad caught me. The run started ok but by the last couple of miles, I slowed way down. My dad beat me by just a few minutes! If I had known I was that close to beating him I bet I could have picked up the pace somewhere! Neither of us had a PR, but still a decent race.
Anna did the Tri 4 Fun (sprint distance) the day before our race. Fot not training very much, she did pretty good. She now wants to train for the August Tri 4 Real. So if she ends up doing it, all 3 of us will be racing that day which should be fun.
That's just a quick update of what's going on. I'm sure we'll have lots to add in the coming months as races come up and training ramps up!
